NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A week after dropping their league opener in overtime to Hoggard, the Laney Buccaneers were on the road Friday looking to rebound.
The Bucs were in Greenville to take the Rose Rampants, who were hoping to stay unbeaten in mideastern play.
The Rampants had an early 10-0 lead, but the Bucs stormed back cutting the lead to 10-7. After a botched punt attempt, Laney scored a touchdown to take the lead 14-10.
Laney dropped a 13 point lead in the fourth quarter and fell short to the Rampants by 3. Final score: Laney 44, JH Rose 47.
Laney will be on the road Friday to take on the New Hanover Wildcats and JH Rose will take on the Hoggard Vikings.
