WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A&I Fire and Water Restoration donated 100 smoke alarms to the Wilmington Fire Department on Thursday.
The WFD partners with the Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry (WARM) to help keep families fire safe with new smoke alarms, which will be installed in houses that have been identified by WARM.
WARM provides assistance with vital repairs to approximately 60 low income homeowners whose income falls 50 percent below the median for their county. Over 80 percent of their homeowners are elderly widows and over 30 percent are disabled.
"Each year we see multiple house fires where damage could have been avoided or reduced if smoke alarms were used," said Todd Setzer, A&I's Marketing Director.
The donated alarms will complete a waiting list of WARM residents who are currently in need.
