Wilson ties Jordan record, commits to C of C
News

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - In the house that Michael Jordan built, Elijah Wilson put his name along side MJ's in the Laney record book.

Wilson scored 42 points in Laney's 68-62, four-overtime win against New Bern Monday night. His 42 points tied Jordan's single-game program mark set against Eastern Wayne on Valentine's Day in 1980.

"You know Michael, he'd be the first to tell Elijah he needed four overtimes to do it," said Laney athletics director Fred Lynch. "Michael did it in regulation."

The scoring record wasn't the only moment of significance for Wilson Monday night, he also committed to play collegiate ball at the College of Charleston.  Officials from the Cougars were in attendance to witness his scoring output first-hand.

With Monday's win, Laney advances to the Mideastern conference semifinals where the Bucs will face Hoggard on Wednesday. The Vikings took both regular season meetings with Laney.
