NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Trained volunteers will take a snapshot of areas experiencing homelessness in our community over a 24-hour period to gather various data elements.
The annual Point-In-Time is sponsored by the North Carolina Coalition to End Homelessness, which compiles data across the state.
The count is a piece of unduplicated demographic information in which staff and volunteers gather data including gender, race, cause of homelessness and where people are sleeping.
The data collection will take place Wednesday in Brunswick, New Hanover and Pender counties. The results will be calculated and analyzed in February and released to the public via www.wilmingtonhousing.org.
The kick off for the trained volunteers will begin at 5 p.m.
