WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Progress Energy has presented the New Hanover County Board of Education a rebate check of more than $175,000 for energy-efficiency improvements made to eight local schools. The incentives are reportedly provided through Progress Energy’s Energy Efficiency for Business program and will help to offset the cost of installing these energy saving measures.
The presentation was made on Nov. 1 at the board’s regular monthly meeting, according to a news release. The upgrades will result in nearly $100,000 in annual energy savings for the school system.
Energy efficiency upgrades, including improvements to lighting and heating and cooling (HVAC) systems, were made to these seven schools:
- Laney High School
- Hoggard High School
- Virgo Middle School
- Williston Middle School
- Roland Grise Middle School
- Trask Middle School
- College Park Elementary School
