ILM earns award for going green

ILM earns award for going green

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The leaders of Wilmington International Airport have added another award to their mantel.

Green Plus Sustainable Enterprise Awards recognized ILM for its recent improvement projects around the airport. Jon Rosborough, ILM’s Director, said the LED lights along the runway and recycled asphalt around the perimeter are two contributing reasons.

The perimeter provides emergency vehicles with a paved access road throughout the entire airport, according to Rosborough.

The Green Plus Sustainable Non-profit of the Year award is given at the state level, but Rosborough said ILM is the only airport in the country to receive one.
