NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – According to authorities with the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, two arrests have been made following a home invasion that took place in April.
22-year-old Owen Hobson Morgan and Kristina Hanne Steenberg, 21, were arrested May 5 in connection with the incident, both charged with multiple felonies including kidnapping and assault by pointing a gun.
Officials say that on April 30, detectives responded to an apartment in the 820 block of Bent Creek Road in reference to a possible home invasion.
When they arrived at the scene, the victims there told detectives that about five suspects had entered the residence after opening the door to a woman. The victims said that the suspects beat them and placed a gun to their heads, then went from room to room searching for items to take.
The victims said that they lay on the floor during the invasion out of fear.
The victims said that all suspects wore bandanas, except for the woman with them. A suspicious neighbor of the victims called 911 after she noticed the suspects wearing bandanas and going into the apartment.
When authorities arrived at the scene, they saw a vehicle leaving the parking lot at a high speed. It was later found abandoned and was impounded.
Steenberg and Hobson have both been charged with first-degree burglary; robbery with a dangerous weapon conspiracy; second-degree kidnapping; assault with deadly weapon; assault by pointing a gun; robbery with a dangerous weapon and larceny after breaking and entering.
Morgan and Steenberg are currently in the New Hanover County Detention Facility under secured bonds.
Detectives are continuing to search for the other suspects involved.
